Introduction to Cryptography
PD Dr. Werner Schindler
Integrity, authenticity and / or secrecy of digital messages are security requirements which are indispensible for many internet, mobile and smart card applications (e.g. home banking, electronic payment systems, e-commerce). These requirements can be ensured with cryptographic mechanisms. This lecture introduces the audience into the field of cryptography. Algorithms and simple protocols are treated. As far as possible, these mechanisms are explained by means of practical applications (home banking, electronic money, mobile communication etc.).
Key Words: block, cipher, stream cipher, asymmetric algorithms, RSA, integer factorization, hash functions, random numbers, digital signatures, hybrid protocols, applications.
